MMDA extends dry run for Commonwealth Ave’s exclusive motorcycle lane

Motorists have one more week to get used to the idea of the exclusive motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

MMDA acting chair Don Artes said the extension was made to give way to the patching works being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways and to give more time to the motorists to be familiar with the policy.

The patching works would be undertaken as a response to concerns about uneven portions and potholes along the highway.

“The MMDA is grateful to the DPWH for acting quickly to our repair works request which would help in lessening accidents,” said Artes.

The MMDA is also considering installing reflectors and solar street lamps to light up the area and help prevent accidents.

Artes also hopes the extension would minimize confusion about the new lane on Commonwealth Avenue before its full implementation.

The MMDA has flagged down 9,757 flagged down motorcycle riders and four-wheel private vehicle drivers from March 9 to March 16.
