Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to improve the city’s readiness to respond to disasters.
The MOA is for the prepositioning of relief goods that will be used during emergencies and calamities.
The agreement states that the DSWD will provide Parañaque with 1,000 boxes of relief goods.
The mayor hailed the deal.
“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa ating mga kaibigan sa DSWD-NCR sa kanilang patuloy na pagsuporta sa lungsod, at itong prepositioning ng mga relief goods ay makakatulong sa agarang pagtugon natin sa mga nangangailan sa panahon ng sakuna,” said Olivarez.
He also said the MOA would improve cooperation between the city government and the DSWD.
He said he had a close working relationship with the department when he served in Congress.
“Malaki ang naitulong ng DSWD-NCR sa district office noong ako ay nanungkulan bilang congressman sa loob ng siyam na taon. Sila ang aming katuwang sa pamamahagi ng mga relief goods at financial assistance para sa mga biktima ng iba’t ibang sakuna,” he said.
