The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority celebrated the National Day for Youth in Climate Action bu joining the clean up activity for the Estero de Sunog Apog in Tondo, Manila.
The MMDA teamed up with the Pasig River Coordinating and Management Office, Metropolitan Environmental Office, Philippine Coast Guard, National Capital Region-Regional Community Defense Group, National Youth Commission, Philippine Public Safety College, Department of Public Services, Philippine Mountain Rangers and Wildlife Enforcers, and the barangay councils of barangays 135 and145 in Manila.
MMDA General Manager Procopio Lipana also joined the activity to teach the public about proper solid waste management and the effects of climate change.
“Bilang parte ng gobyerno, nagsama-sama ang DENR, MMDA, at iba pang ahensiya at Local Government Units para gamitin ang ating mga resources at kaalaman para ma-address ang climate change,” Lipana said.
The MMDA send 32 personnel from the Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office and four dump trucks for the clean-up activity.
