Bel Zamora is hoping she’ll finally convince lawmakers to approve a bill granting Filipino citizenship by naturalization to artist Juvenal Sanso.

Sanso, now 93, lives in San Juan. He describes himself as “Spanish by birth and Filipino at heart” as his family migrated to Manila when he was 5 years old, and chose to retire here while still painting his vibrant nature pieces.

“Mr. Sanso is turning 93 years old this year. He has lived most of his recent life in San Juan City, thus, already known as a San Juaneño,” the politiko said.

Zamora’s dad Ronny first pushed for his naturalization, but the bill did not prosper in past Congresses.
