Franz Pumaren backs bill taxing plastic bags
Franz Pumaren is proud to stand up and defend a bill seeking to impose taxes on single-use plastics.
The Quezon City congressman believes it will help preserve the environment by discouraging its use.
“The new amendment will allow the local government to collect an excise tax in the amount of twenty pesos (P20) for every kilogram of plastic bag removed from the place of production or released from the custody of the Bureau of Customs,” the politiko explained.
“One hundred percent (100%) of the revenues collected from the excise tax on plastic bags will be allocated and used exclusively for the implementation of the solid waste management plans of local government units,” he added.
