Quezon City Councilor Mikey Belmote hopes to intensify efforts to address child trafficking and child pornography, which he said has no place in the city.

Belmonte is pushing the enactment of his ordinance seeking to expand the city’s internet safety program.

It seeks to improve safety measures in facilities that could be used for child trafficking and child pornography, such as internet cafes, computer shops, piso-net, piso-wifi and public wifi areas, he said.

The measure has already been approved by the Committee on Information and Communications Technology or Cybertechnology, he said.

He also called on Quezon City residents to protect children and to immediately report instances of their abuse to authorities.
