MMDA personnel and equipment on standby in case floodwaters rise

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is ready to respond should floodwaters rise due to heavy rains from severe tropical storm Florita.

MMDA acting chair Carlo Dimayuga III said the agency’s personnel and equipment are ready to be deployed to areas where waters would rise.

Rescue teams from the MMDA Public Safety Division, as well as 20 rubber boats and other equipment, have been placed on stand by, Dimayuga said.

MMDA acting General Manager Baltazar Melgar assured the public that all of its flood control facilities are operational.

The MMDA also advised the public to be prepared for any eventuality as a result of the storm.
