Manila prepares isolation rooms, readies vaccination teams for schools

The Manila City government assured students and parents that it is ready to handle the situation should any student test positive for COVID-19 in schools now that they are required to return to the classrooms.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said the city government has prepared isolation rooms.

The city would also deploy vaccination teams to schools in case students want to get the jab, Lacuna said.

“May isolation rooms po tayo, mga medical frontliners, and magpapalagay tayo ng vaccination team just in case po na mayroong gustong magpabakuna habang nandito po sila, tutal nandito na lahat ng mga bata, puwedeng magpabakuna,” she said.

Students were provided with school supplies and hygiene kits for their use.

The mayor also urged students to bring meals and snacks to schools so that they would not need to go outside the premises during break time.

The city government said classrooms have a maximum of 35 students and they are expected to practice physical distancing.

Some schools also only have in-person classes four days a week, and one day of online classes.

Safety officers are assigned to inspect classrooms before, during, and after classes to ensure the minimum health protocols are observed.
