MMDA to begin issuing traffic citation tickets for number coding violations today
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will begin the strict implementation of the expanded number coding scheme today and will be issuing traffic citation tickets to violators.
This follows a three-day dry run during which the MMDA apprehended motorists violating the number coding scheme, but only gave them a reminder and let them off without a ticket.
On the third day of the dry run on Wednesday, the MMDA said it was able to apprehend 2,878 motorists.
The MMDA said motorists who would violate the scheme today would receive either a citation ticket or a summons if they are caught via the no-contact apprehension policy.
The fine for violating the number coding scheme is P300.
Under the new scheme, vehicles will be prohibited from being on EDSA and main roads from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the last digit of their license plate.
The coding scheme is suspended during holidays.
