The MRT-3 management has assured the public that it is ready for the reopening of classes next week, which is expected to increase the number of commuters using the MRT-3.

The MRT-3 said it expects around 1,400 students to use the MRT-3 daily beginning next week.

At present, it has 300,000 daily users during weekdays.

MRT-3 General Manager Federico Canar Jr. said the management prioritizes the welfare and safety of students, and wants to provide them with a comfortable and affordable ride.

Students could avail themselves of a 20 percent discount during the railway’s operating hours, Canar said.

“Katuwang po ang iba pang rail lines at ang [Department of Transportation], ang MRT-3 po ay handa nang magbigay ng ligtas, komportable, at sapat na transportasyon para sa ating mga estudyante. Maaari pong mag-avail ang ating mga estudyante ng 20% fare discount sa buong operating hours ng MRT-3,” he said.

To get the discount, the students must present their student ID or original copy of their enrollment or registration form when buying their single journey tickets at the ticketing booth.

The student fare will be available from Monday to Sunday, including holidays.

The MRT-3 continues to enforce its seven commandments to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus, said Canar.

He also assured the public that the MRT-3 has enough trains to accommodate passengers.

It is ready to deploy more train sets during peak hours, he added.
