The United States government led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken donated items to Manila to help it with its COVID-19 response.

Blinken, who came to the Philippines for the visit, and the USAID turned over personal protective equipment and testing and hygiene kits to Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna.

Blinken also thanked Filipino medical workers for caring for those who were infected and for taking part in the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Lacuna expressed her appreciation not just for the recent donations, but for all the assistance that the US government has given Manila since the start of the pandemic.

These include vaccines as well as different kinds of equipment.

The US government distributed an estimated $33 million in assistance to the Philippines at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, and Manila was one of the beneficiaries.
