The city of San Juan will be providing P1 million in assistance to the province of Abra, which was recently damaged by a 7 magnitude earthquake.

The San Juan City council passed an ordinance on Monday authorizing the transfer of P1 million from its Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund to Abra.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora signed the measure on the same day.

“Both cities have shared special ties for many years and it is but necessary to extend assistance most especially in times of calamity and distress,” the resolution stated.

Zamora said he hoped the amount would aid the province in its recovery from the calamity.

“Nawa’y makatulong po ito ng kaunti sa muling pagbangon ng mga taga Abra mula sa sakunang ito,” he said.
