Former Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello arrested in QC for cyber libel
The Quezon City Police on Monday arrested former Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello for cyber libel.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Retrina Fuentes of the Davao City regional trial court for two counts of violation of the Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012.
Bail has been set at P48,000 for each count.
Bello, who ran for Vice President in the May elections, was nabbed in his Quezon City home around 5 p.m., according to the Quezon City police public information office.
QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Remus Medina lauded the operatives of the Project 4 Police Station for their arrest of Bello.
“Sisiguraduhin po natin ang seguridad ng akusado habang siya ay nasa ating kustodiya,” Medina added.
