Taguig Heritage Society says the city’s important cultural properties seem fine after earthquake

The Taguig Heritage Society immediately checked on the city’s three important cultural properties after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the country on Wednesday morning.

The three properties are the Taguig church or St. Anne Parish church, built in 1587, the Dambanang Kawayan, which dates back to 1573, and the Simborio, which dates back to 1700.

The group said that based on the initial assessment of Rev. Fr. Glenn B. Gaabucayan of the Dambanang Kawayan, the structure appeared not to have any damage.

But a more thorough assessment would be conducted to check that it is safe, it said.

The St. Anne Church and the Simborio did not appear to have any damage either, it said.

“Ang tatlong built heritage na nabanggit ang pinakamatandang mga istraktura sa Taguig na itinuturing na mahalagang pamanang kultura ng ating bayan na dapat bigyan ng karampatang pagtingin sa epekto ng mga malalakas na pagyanig ng lupa,” it said.
