Pasig launches pension program for senior citizens
More than 16,000 senior citizens from Pasig will get pensions from the city government beginning this month.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto launched the Pasig City Local Senior Pension Program and said the first ever beneficiary of the program withdrew her pension over the weekend.
Sotto said a total of 16,669 senior citizens had been validated and would receive P500 per month from the city beginning this July.
Those who are at least 65 years old, have been Pasig residents for at least two years, have no job, and are not receiving any other pension would qualify for the program, he said.
He thanked Councilor Edith Santiago, the author of the Pasig Senior Code, the Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs, the Mayor’s Office Legislative Team, and the 10th City Council for the program.
