Pasig, PNP arrest city hall employees for accepting bribe
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto had an eventful first day of his second term after two city hall employees were caught accepting bribe money.
Sotto said that after his oath-taking for his second term, the city conducted an entrapment operation along with the Philippine National Police.
Two employees were caught in the act accepting a P600,000 bribe in exchange for the release of a permit, he said.
“Para daw ito sa ‘tulong’ para lumabas ang isang permit na dati nang sinabi sa business owner na ok na,” he said on Facebook.
He vowed to continue with his efforts to curb corruption and ensure good governance even though it is not always easy.
“In the last 3 years, we have started to de-normalize corruption and institutionalize good governance in our local government. A tiring and mostly thankless job, but we guarantee that in the next 3 years, we will push even harder and do even better,” he said.
