Pasig City will be getting help from UNDP Philippines and the Chinese Embassy in Manila in handling its medical waste.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto said medical waste has been one of the biggest challenges the city has faced since the pandemic began.

One of the components of its agreement with UNDP Philippines and the Chinese Embassy is the introduction of an environment-friendly medical waste management system, Sotto said on Facebook.

He also said an autoclave unit, which is a sterilizer machine, would be installed at the Pasig City General Hospital later this year.

There will also be capacity building on the use of a digital waste registry to monitor HCW production, processing, and disposal, he said.
