The Caloocan local government has included the police in its urban gardening program.

The Caloocan City People’s Law Enforcement Board and Caloocan City Parks and Administration Services hosted a seminar for police personnel on how to grow plants, according to Mayor Oca Malapitan.

The police were taught about the importance of growing plants in the city, an activity that could also provide food for the people, Malapitan said.

“Binigyang-diin sa seminar ang kahalagahan ng pagtatanim maging sa siyudad upang makatulong sa kabuhayan at pagkain ng mga mamamayan,” Malapitan said on Facebook.

The seminar also underscored the vital role that the police play in community development, he said.

The mayor earlier signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Agriculture and Philippine Seed Industry Associate for the urban agriculture program of Caloocan City.
