MMDA inaugurates new head office in Pasig
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has a new home in Pasig City.
President Duterte himself on Monday led the inauguration of the MMDA’s new 20-storey building, a milestone for the agency.
MMDA Chair Romando Artes said the opening of the agency’s new home underscores the commitment to strengthen the organization and to provide better service to the people.
“We started with an idea, and now we stand in the actual building of our lifetime dream – a state-of-the-art government facility, catering to the needs of our employees as well as the clients and partners of Metro Manila. We now have a safe, structurally sound, sustainable, and productive headquarters we can call home,” Artes said.
The new building has a centralized data system, upgraded Metrobase Operations Center, and MMDA Corporate Auditorium.
It also has a roof deck and helipad.
It would provide convenience to stakeholders and help ensure effective delivery of services, said Artes.
It would also be certified by the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) with a one-star accreditation.
BERDE is a tool to assess, measure, monitor, and certify performance of green building projects.
MMDA employees are expected to move into the new building this year.
The new MMDA building was conceptualized in 2018 during term of then Chair Danilo Lim, and the design was the product of a collaboration with the United Architects of the Philippines-Makati Chapter.
A national design competition was held, and the winning entry, called “Solihiya Moderno,” was used as inspiration for the final look of the building.
The structure has a modern yet distinctly Filipino design.
