Those huge tarpaulins with politikos’ names and faces don’t have to clog up landfills and waterways after the polls.

Incoming Parañaque Councilor Nina Sotto hopes to give these campaign materials a new life by sharing ways on how to upcycle these right at home.

Sotto said her own tarpaulins were turned into aprons, pencil cases, organizers, and bags of different shapes and sizes.

“Pagkatapos namin baklasin, hindi namin yan binasura or kinalat na lang, kundi ginawa ko itong apron, pencil case, organizer at bags na iba’t ibang hugis at laki!” she said on Facebook.

She shared a video of her visiting a mother who has been making different items from the tarpaulins.

People just need to be creative so that the items won’t go to waste, she said.

“Dapat ay maging CREATIVE lang tayo, Dabarkads! Nakatulong ka na sa kapaligiran, nakatulong pa sa mga Dabarkads nating mang gagawa!” she said.
