Lani Cayetano to gov’t: Give cash aid, fuel subsidies to micro-enterprises
By Billy Begas
Taguig City Rep. Lani Cayetano called on the national and local governments to provide financial assistance to micro-entrepreneurs as the cost of basic necessities spike as a result of recent oil price hikes.
Aside from cash aid, Cayetano suggested providing oil subsidies to small businesses especially since the country is “still in the process of recovery.”
“Hindi pa po tayo nakakaraos. Nasa proseso pa lang po tayo ng pagbangon, heto na naman ang napakalaking problema sa pagtaas ng presyo ng langis at pagtaas ng presyo ng bilihin,” said Cayetano, who is running for city mayor.
She stressed that the government must step up especially now that private initiatives of politicians to provide direct cash aid to Filipinos are halted in accordance with the rules of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the campaign season.
Cayetano said this is why her husband, former House Speaker and incumbent Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, “never gave up” on pushing for the 10K Ayuda Bill in Congress.
The mayoral candidate also vowed to continue pursuing pro-women programs, including skills training and livelihood opportunities for women, in cooperation with her spouse.
