Duterte maintains neutrality on Russia-Ukraine war: ‘Hindi natin away ‘yan’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday reiterated the country’s position of neutrality on the tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
“Ang neutrality nato, we just maintain it,” Duterte said during the inauguration of the new Leyte Provincial Capitol in Palo, Leyte.
He stressed that a nuclear attack would have devastating effects.
“Hindi natin away ‘yan. ‘Wag tayong makialam. Sabi nga ng scientists, if it goes nuclear, it’s the end of the world. Tapos na talaga tayo,” according to him.
Duterte made a similar warning in a March 4 speech during the inauguration of the Narvacan Farmers’ Market in Ilocos Sur, where he expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine would refrain from using nuclear weapons.
