Scrapping of alert level system ‘still premature’, says Dizon

The proposal to scrap the Covid-19 alert level system is “premature,” according to Presidential Adviser for Covid-19 Response Vince Dizon.
In an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Source Monday, Dizon said the government is currently focused on lowering the Covid-19 cases in the country.
“For the calls to scrap the alert level system, I think those are still premature,” the official said.
“What our focus now should still be to bring down our cases and really get out of this Omicron surge that started early January,” he added.
When asked about the possibility of de-escalating Metro Manila to Alert Level 1 after February 15, Dizon stressed the need to review the case and healthcare capacity metrics.
The capital region is under Alert Level 2 until mid-February.
“We are looking at those numbers, and we will review them every week and will make decisions based on that,” he said.
