President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday warned the public against buying medicines from sari-sari (variety) stores.
Duterte issued the remark after the Food and Drug Administration revealed that 21 out of 926 drug outlets nationwide were “suspected” to be selling unregistered or counterfeit medicines and diagnostic kits.
“Walang magbibili ng medisina used against Covid-19 sa sari-sari store, ‘yung mga fly by night na bukas lang pero walang masyadong pinagbibili, pero ‘yung sinasabi na peke mabibili doon,” he said.
The President also said persons arrested for selling illicit medicines should be forced to take them.
“Ipainom ko sayo o injection ko sa katawan mo. Mamatay ka o magkasakit ka, problema mo ‘yan,” added Duterte.
