Gumana pabuya! 234 QC vendors volunteer for COVID-19 vaccination
A total of 234 vendors and market employees in Quezon City received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on January 19 after Mayor Joy Belmonte dangled a P2,000 incentive for their vaccination.
A memorandum signed by Mayor Belmonte states that ambulant and market vendors, and market employees shall receive a P2000.00 incentive to compensate for lost income, if they agreed to be jabbed from January 8-31.
“We understand that most vendors cannot take a day off due to loss of income that would put food on the family table, so we decided to provide them with an incentive to encourage them to receive COVID-19 shots,” she said.
The eligibility of the vendors and market employees was checked by the presentation of a vending permit, certification from their barangay or reputable vendors’ association, and proof of residency in Quezon City through any valid ID such as the QC ID, barangay ID, or voter’s ID, among others.
Over 1,000 more market employees and vendors have been identified by the city government as qualified for the incentive.
