Jeannie Sandoval watches first live performance of tribute to Huseng Batute
Former Malabon vice mayor Jeannie Sandoval traveled to Bulacan on November 19 to witness the first live performance of a tribute to Filipino poet Jose Corazon De Jesus, more popularly known as Huseng Batute.
Titled “AWIT at TULA: Pagbabalik-Tanaw sa Unang Hari ng Balagtasan,” the show was organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Joining Sandoval at the event were CCP president Nick Lizaso, Pulilan Mayor Maria Rosario Ochoa Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino chairman Arthur Casanova, and classical singer Lara Maigue.
In a Facebook post, Sandoval expressed admiration for the talent exhibited by the performers in the tribute.
“Patunay lamang po ito na ang galing ng Pilipino ay tunay na walang kupas at hindi matatawaran,” she said.
