Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro has warned the management of Marikina Riverbanks of possible sanctions if it fails to implement crowd control measures to minimize the COVID-19 risk.

Teodoro told One News’ “Sa Totoo Lang” on October 19 that he asked the police’s help to ensure health protocols are still followed at the Marikina Riverbanks and other public spaces.

More people have been going to parks and other public areas since the lockdown classification of Metro Manila was eased to Alert Level 3.

“Kinausap namin yung management nung Riverbanks at binigyan namin ng stern warning na kung mauulit ay talagang mapipilitan kaming i-sanction. Maaaring i-suspend yung operations nila,” Teodoro shared.

In addition to ramping up police presence, Teodoro said health protocol officers have been permanently assigned to public spaces to help with crowd control.

“Kailangan natin na makapagbukas ng ekonomiya. Inaamin natin ito pero kailangan nating mabuksan ng ligtas ‘yung ating mga establishments at may mga protocol talaga dapat hingiin,” he said.
