Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has ordered the 15-day lockdown of a residential compound in Barangay Tunasan following the alarming spike of COVID-19 cases in the community.

The Extreme Localized Community Quarantine (ELCQ) of Unira Compound, Sto. Niño in Brgy. Tunasan started on 12:00 p.m. of August 29 and will continue until September 13, 12:00 p.m. The residential compound is the 11th area in the city to be put on lockdown this month.

Unira Compound is a residential area with 199 residents and has high risk groups including 8 senior citizens, 4 Persons with Disability (PWD), 1 pregnant woman and 21 children aged less than 5 years old.

Mass swab testing will be conducted in the area while Muntinlupa PNP is set to enforce total lockdown measures. The City Social Service Department and barangay will also provide food packs and other basic items for the affected residents during the effectivity of the ELCQ.

Fresnedi urged city residents to exercise extra caution at home especially with the alarming spike of COVID-19 cases in the communities.

“Let’s all do our part. Lumabas lamang kung talagang kinakailangan. At kung may lumalabas man sa kasama natin sa bahay, mas mabuting mag-mask kahit nasa loob ng tahanan at iwasan muna ang kumain nang sabay-sabay,” he said.
