Ready to pop! Mom-to-be Phanie Teves gets vaccinated
Stephanie Teves wants fellow pregnant women to get vaccinated versus COVID-19.
Contrary to initial fears, the Muntinlupa councilor said it’s totally safe and even beneficial for expecting mothers to get the jab.
“8th month pregnant and done with my 1st dose of COVID-19 Vaccine,” the politiko said, sharing a selfie from the vaccination center.
“Patuloy po nating hinihikayat ang lahat ng mga buntis o mga nagplaplanong magbuntis at mga nagpapabreastfeed na magpabakuna para maprotektahan ang kanilang mga sarili from COVID-19. The vaccines are safe and effective, and it has never been more urgent to increase vaccinations as we face the highly transmissible Delta variant and see severe outcomes from COVID-19 among unvaccinated pregnant people,” she added.
There are scientific studies which show that a mother’s antibodies are passed on to the child, giving them early protection from the coronavirus even before being born.
