Joy Belmonte tells spreaders of fake COVID-19 vax news: Makonsensya naman kayo!
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has asked those behind fake news about the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program to stop spreading misinformation.
Belmonte made the appeal in the wake of viral videos showing large crowds forming outside some vaccination sites in Quezon City.
According to reports, people were encouraged to go to the vaccination sites even if they didn’t have appointments due to the information that walk-ins will be accommodated.
“I would like to make the following requests: to those spreading this fake news (for whatever malicious reason), makonsensya naman kayo. You are literally endangering the lives of countless men, women, and children,” Belmonte said.
The mayor warned that charges will be filed against those who spread disinformation about COVID-19 vaccination once they are caught. She also stressed that walk-ins are not allowed at vaccination sites.
“Hindi po maaaring magbakasakali at pumila lamang upang mabakunahan. May maayos na sistema po ng pre-registration at scheduling na patuloy na ipinatutupad sa ating lungsod,” Belmonte said.
