Still humble: Ruffy Biazon says presidency didn’t change Noynoy’s character

Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon only had praises for the late former President Benigno Aquino III, who died Thursday, June 24 at the age of 61.

Biazon, who served as Customs Commissioner under Aquino, said he was honored to serve Aquino both as a friend and public servant.

“Having had the privilege of personally knowing him before he became president, I can truly say that occupying the highest seat of power in the country did not change his character which was marked by humility, integrity, and patriotism,” he said in a statement.

Biazon said that like his famous parents, the late former President Corazon Aquino and former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., Aquino was “uncomfortable with the trappings of power.”

“It was obvious that his overarching mindset, just like his mother, was that to govern was not to exercise power but to perform a duty to serve,” the lawmaker said.
