Looking at bigger picture: Vico Sotto says Kalayaan Bridge will ease traffic between BGC, Ortigas
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto expects traffic congestion between Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig and Ortigas to ease with the opening of Kalayaan Bridge.
Sotto joined local executives from Taguig, Mandaluyong and Makati in inaugurating the bridge on the 123rd anniversary of Independence Day on June 12.
In a Facebook post, Sotto shared that some residents of Barangay Kapitolyo in Pasig initially opposed the construction of the bridge, which was one of the administration’s “Build, Build, Build” projects.
“[T]hankfully more people are now looking at the BIGGER PICTURE. This bridge will ease congestion, link the business districts of Ortigas and BGC, and bring the cities of Pasig, Makati, Taguig, and Mandaluyong closer together,” he said.
Joining Sotto at the bridge’s inauguration were Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, Makati Rep. Luis Campos and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos.
Also present were Public Works Secretary Mark Villar and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.
