Quezon City Rep. Kit Belmonte has come to the defense of former senator Mar Roxas’ family after Malacañang said they didn’t contribute anything to the government’s campaign against COVID-19.
Belmonte said Araneta Coliseum, which is owned by Roxas’ family, has long been used as a COVID-19 testing facility.
“Matagal nang testing center ang Araneta. Tapos, malapit na rin cyang maging vaccination site. Direchahan nalang kasi, walang diversion,” he tweeted on May 12.
Referring to Roque, Belmonte added: “Alam mo, bilib ako sa tutang ito.”
The lawmaker accompanied his tweet with a GIF image of a dog riding a jetski.
Roque said in a May 11 press briefing that he’s unaware of any efforts by Roxas’ family to offer Araneta Coliseum as a quarantine or vaccination site.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, however, said Araneta City was tapped since fourth quarter of 2020 as a venue for the local government’s free RT-PCR tests for the general public.
The company also allowed the free use of the Araneta City BusPort as an accessible site for the drive-thru COVID-19 RT-PCR saliva testing of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
