Magkakabahay na! Mikey Belmonte welcomes QC council’s turnover of 1-hectare land to informal settlers

Quezon City councilor Mikey Belmonte is grateful over the city council’s passage of an ordinance for the formal turnover of a one-hectare lot in Barangay Bagong Silangan to occupying informal settler families (ISFs).

The property has been declared as a Socialized Housing Site and will be given to qualified ISFs living in the area under the Direct Sale Program of the city.

“One priority of the Quezon City government is to provide affordable and decent housing that is still within the city to thousands of informal settler families. We’re expanding the number of communities under our socialized housing project to accommodate more residents who live here with their families and who work here,” explained Belmonte.

The private property was forfeited through an auction sale in favor of the Quezon City Government and shall now be subjected to the necessary staff work under by the executive branch, particularly, the Housing Community Development and Resettlement Department (HCDRD).

“Under the Direct Sale Program of the city, the HCDRD will plan and develop the site, orient prospective beneficiaries, select those who are qualified, and help them process loans to pay their respective lots. The city will guide them through every step of the way to ensure that they can secure their individual titles upon payment,” Belmonte said.
