May tiwala sa Sinovac: Isko Moreno gets COVID-19 jab
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno received the Sinovac vaccine against COVID-19 on Sunday, April 4, in a bid to boost public confidence in the China-made jab.
Moreno’s vaccine was administered by Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, who is a doctor.
The mayor explained that he immediately had himself inoculated after President Rodrigo Duterte and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) allowed Mayors of high-risk areas to get vaccinated.
“I made a commitment to the people of Manila that I would get the Sinovac vaccine. A lot of Filipinos have doubts about Sinovac, so as a matter of commitment, I got vaccinated with it,” Moreno said.
“May nagsasabi noon na, ‘Pabakuna ka nang pabakuna sa amin, pero ikaw hindi pa nagpapabakuna.’ I had to wait because the rules had to be followed. Heto ngayon nabakunahan na ako,” he added.
Moreno said the city government is ready to use any brand of COVID-19 vaccine as long as it has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“If it is available then we will offer it to every Manileño and everyone else who wants to get vaccinated,” he said.
