Baka makahawa! 478 railway personnel test positive for COVID-19

Some 478 personnel under the railway sector of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have tested positive for COVID-19 as of April 5.

Based on the breakdown released by the DOTr, 94 personnel of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 1,185 employees under LRT-1, 281 have been tested.

In the LRT-2, 143 of the 592 employees that were tested turned positive. LRT-2 has 1,696 personnel.

In the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3), 120 of the 709 personnel who were tested turned positive. MRT-3 has 3,284 personnel.

The Philippine National Railway (PNR) has 1,420 personnel. Of which 586 were tested and 121 turned positive.

To ensure the safety of the commuters, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade has ordered the testing of all railway personnel.
