Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco has welcomed the delivery of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine to the Navotas City Hospital as the city started its vaccination campaign against the virus.

Some 100 healthcare workers of the city hospital, including NCH chief of clinics Roan Salafranca, received the Sinovac vaccine.

“We are ecstatic and thankful that some of our frontliners have already received their shot. Since our cases our increasing, we hope the national government will allocate and send more vaccines to Navotas,” Tiangco said.

The Navotas City Health Department has 799 employees, 353 of whom are working at NCH.

Tiangco said he is hoping for the delivery of additional COVID-19 vaccines from the national government as the city awaits the arrival of its purchase of 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

“We don’t want a repeat of our experience last year when we had to close down our health care facilities because some of our frontliners contracted the virus. That is why we are fiercely advocating for the vaccine, but we also respect those who wish to wait for other brands to arrive,” he said.
