Naging kampante kasi: Joy Belmonte orders tighter implementation of protocols as COVID-19 cases rise anew

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has ordered the city’s health department, law and safety enforcement teams, and barangays to ensure the implementation of health protocols amid a resurgence in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Belmonte said the city government’s data showed a seven percent increase in COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks, with 1,007 cases registered on February 26 compared to 945 cases last February 12.

“We have observed that the public is becoming lax in taking COVID precautions. But we’d like to remind them that the virus is still very much in our midst, and this could possibly include a number of its variants. This is no time to relax,” she said.

Belmonte reminded the public to observe the following to minimize their risk of catching COVID-19: Social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, and avoiding big gatherings.

She said the city government will distribute face masks again in all barangays so residents can cover their faces when outside their homes.
