Maging Sinovac pa ‘yan! Isko Moreno ready to be vaccinated in public vs COVID-19
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has expressed readiness to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in public with the China-made Sinovac despite its low efficacy.
Moreno informed the Manila City Council led by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna about his willingness to receive Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine after the Food and Drug Administration granted it emergency use authorization (EUA).
“Anuman ang bakuna, basta sertipikado at may EUA ng FDA, gagamitin natin. May karapatan kayong maging choosy. Pwede kayo maghintay ng bakunang type ninyo. Pero para sa akin, basta may EUA gagamitin po natin,” the mayor said during the flag raising ceremony.
FDA Director General Eric Domingo said Sinovac won’t be used on medical frontliners due to its low efficacy rate of 50.4 percent in the group.
The Philippines is expected to receive an initial 600,000 doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine soon after getting an EUA from FDA.
