Bagong tambayan! Isko Moreno launches Manila’s ‘hidden gem.’ Find out where

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno formally unveiled on February 16 a one-hectare “hidden garden” in Lawton.

Moreno said the garden’s launch was part of his administration’s policy to open more green spaces in the nation’s capital. He said he wanted to show that cleaner and breathable air is achievable in an urbanized city like Manila.

We dedicate this day to you—to the people of Manila, and those people who will come in and out of the city,” the mayor said.

The garden at Lawton also features a coffee shop, which allowed the local government to generate new jobs and opportunities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreno asked for the public’s cooperation in maintaining the cleaniness of the garden, saying they should treat it as their own.
