Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro has asked the national government’s help to supply 70 percent of the city’s requirement for COVID-19 vaccines.

Teodoro said he coursed the request through National Task Force Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. because Marikina is a small city with a limited budget.

“[K]ailangan namin mag-prioritize hindi lang naman vaccine ang kailangan budget-an,” the mayor explained.

“More importantly nga ‘yung other logistical requirement ng vaccination, ‘yung mga doctors, nurses, ‘yung mga gamit pangsaksak, ‘yung mga logistical requirements sa mga vaccination centers, ‘yung mga equipment sa care monitoring, ‘yung support drugs na kailangan baka sakaling magkaroon ng adverse reaction, bumili na kami nun,” he added.

Teodoro said Galvez assured him that the national government can augment the vaccine supply to be purchased by the local government.
