Charisse Abalos laments passing of lola Cora
Cora Abalos, wife of former Commission on Elections chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr., has died.
Her apo, Mandaluyong Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas, broke the sad news online as she wrote an ode to her beloved lola.
“Dear Mama Cora: my idol, my first role model. I wouldn’t be who I am without you… Mama Cora, you were strength personified. Wala ang KKM, wala ang Mandaluyong Girl Scouts, if you didn’t build its foundations. Maraming nagmamahal sa inyo dahil alam nila na minahal mo din sila,” the politiko said.
“I always knew that love, faith and devotion was possible and true because I saw it all in you. Through the tough times, you stood your ground in prayer and faith. Even until the last,” she added.
The younger Abalos bid farewell and honored her late grandmother, saying she fought hard battles – among the most recent of which was COVID-19.
