Stella Quimbo says husband Miro part of talks for UP-DND accord
Stella Quimbo is deploring the unilateral cancellation of the accord between the University of the Philippines and the Department of National Defense.
Apart from seeing the issue as a huge threat to academic freedom and freedom of speech, the Marikina congressman noted that it’s an issue close to her husband’s heart.
She went on to condemn the decision of the DND to suddenly revoke the accord.
“The unilateral abrogation of UP-DND Accord may threaten not only the safety of the members of UP Community, but also the basic rights to express dissent and mobilize,” Quimbo added. “UP must remain a cradle of free thought to carry out its purpose as the national university.”
