Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca? Vico Sotto still unsure which COVID-19 vaccine will arrive first

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto admitted on Friday, January 15, that there’s no decision yet on which COVID-19 vaccine will be rolled out in the city first even if the local government has signed a deal to buy AstraZeneca vaccines.

In a Facebook post, Sotto said the local government is still unsure which COVID-19 brand will arrive first in the Philippines.

Nevertheless, the mayor said they are prepared for the storage requirements of any brand.

“Pasig is finalizing microplans for Pfizer, AZ, etc,” he said.

Sotto made the statement after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

With vaccine supplies expected to arrive in the Philippines soon, the mayor reminded residents that vaccination is voluntary.

“But let’s keep in mind the greater good,” he said, adding that medical frontliners will be inoculated first.
