Rex Gatchalian, Toby Tiangco send help to flooded Marikina
These politikos extended a helping hand to distraught Marikina after typhoon Ulysses.
The spirit of bayanihan was strong on Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian and Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco, who both volunteered to provide fire trucks to flush Marikina’s streets from the thick mud that deposited after flood water susbsided.
“We have some spare clearing equipment…so we’re sending them over to our friends in Marikina so we can support them in their clearing and cleaning operations,” Gatchalian said days after the crisis.

Navotas’ fire brigade and volunteers also did the same. The result: clear roads within a day after floods, bringing back traffic flow as to where it was before.
