Nasabihan na pasaway pa rin! Rex Gatchalian orders store’s shutdown for failure to implement protocols vs COVID-19

Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian has ordered the closure of a branch of the convenience store Alfamart for failure to implement health protocols against COVID-19, including the use of the Valtrace contact tracing app.

In a Facebook post, Gatchalian said the city government received several complaints about the refusal of Alfamart’s Ugong 1 branch to follow health protocols.

“To think grabe na information campaign at warning pa ang ginawa ng cityhall para dito. Likas na matigas talaga ang ulo ng alfamart,” he said.

Valenzuela City Ordinance 783 Series of 2020 requires customers and employees to present their own ValTrace-generated unique personal QR Code when entering business establishments.

Gatchalian said he couldn’t understand why Alfamart is scrimping on its observance of health protocols considering it is part of SM Retail of the Sy family. He warned that more branches of the convenience store in Valenzuela will be shut down in the coming days for failure to follow health protocols.

“Warning na eto sa lahat na sumunod tayo sa minimum health standards at sa scanning of QR codes sa pinto pa lamang. Cityhall means business,” the mayor said.
