Wes Gatchalian proud of Lord Allan Velasco’s ‘dignified grace’ in Speakership battle
Wes Gatchalian bled with pride as he saw the cool and calm demeanor of his friend Lord Allan Velasco prevail.
The long battle for the House Speakership turned ugly the past week before it was finally resolved by members of the chamber. Through it all, the Valenzuela congressman was happy to see Velasco remain composed and classy – all while his rival, Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, continued to have a series of very public statements and rants.
“The events that recently unfolded in the House of Representatives is one for the history books. I am hopeful that people will not linger long on the controversy that mired the transition, but focus more on the contributions of our legislators to our well-being in this time of pandemic,” Gatchalian said, calling for calm and unity after the whole drama.
“To my good friend, Representative Lord Allan Velasco, one of the youngest Speaker-elect in the history of Philippine Congress, you are an epitome of dignified grace, you held your own, and stood pat on your convictions despite uncalled for accusations,” the politiko added. “Your demeanor stood out and made us, your allies proud to support a true leader.”
