For seafarers’ convenience: MARINO launches action center in Manila
MARINO party-list launched last September an action center in Manila to help seafarers and their families get access to government services.
The MARINO Action Center (MAC) located in Mabini offers programs from different agencies like the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
These include financial assistance, medical assistance, skills development training, educational assistance, and free legal consultation.
MARINO party-list Rep. Sandro Gonzalez said they have a standing agreement and partnership with key government agencies like the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the National Bureau of Investigation to further bolster the assistance these agencies could provide the seafarers.
“The partnership with these agencies is an assurance to our seafarers that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still here not only to represent them, but also lend a helping hand. The agreement with MARINA will fast-track the release of pertinent documents of seafarers for employment purposes,” Gonzalez said.
