‘Di lalampas ng P1,000! QC lowers fine for bikers’ failure to wear helmets
The Quezon City council has lowered the fine for violators of the city ordinance requiring bike riders to wear helmets.
From P1,000, P3,000 and P5,000 for the first, second and third offense, respectively, the fines are now set at P300, P500 and P1,000.
The city council’s head, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, said the fines were lowered in response to public clamor.
“Kabalikat po namin kayo sa paggawa namin ng mga local ordinances kaya hiwag po kayong magsawa na magbigay ng inyong mga feedback. Maraming salamat at manatili po tayong maging maingat sa ating araw araw na byahe sa kalsada!” he said in a Facebook post.
The city ordinance for the mandatory wearing of helmets for bike riders will be implemented starting October 15.
