Bawal mag-party! Lino Cayetano vows to go after quarantine protocol violators

Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano vowed to hold quarantine protocol violators accountable after 16 individuals were arrested in the city on September 12 for holding a drinking session.

Cayetano said in a statement Tuesday, September 15, that there are “challenges” in implementing quarantine protocols even though residents are “mostly disciplined and cooperative.”

“Although the city’s comprehensive approach is centered on compassion and education– partnering with individuals and institutions to fight the virus– the city continues to vow to pursue cases against individuals and establishments not cooperating,” he said.

The individuals arrested at Barangay Lower Bicutan were charged with violating City Ordinance No. 27-89, which prohibits drinking in public places, and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.

Cayetano said the local government has activated a 1000-man “Tapang Malasakit Disiplina” team to help the police enforce ordinances related to stopping the spread of COVID-19.
